Liquid Waste Disposal FAQ's

Q: Why does my tank smell bad when I'm outside?

A: A few things are possible; the vent in the septic field could be clogged. Also, the tank could be overflowing.

Q: I just pumped my tank last month, why is it full?

A:

  • If there has been a lot of rain recently, it is possible that the rain water leaked into the tank.
  • Another possibility is that the outlet to the tank is plugged.
  • If the system is old, it may be filled with sludge. This would cause the tank to fill quickly.

Q: How often should my septic tank be pumped?

A: It is recommended that septics are pumped whenever they are full. Walworth County requires that septic tanks be pumped and inspected once every three years.

Q: Can I schedule recommended maintenance pumpings?

A: Yes, any of our friendly telephone receptionists will be happy to add you to our maintenance schedule.

Q: What do you do with the waste after you pump it?

A: Septic tank waste is spread in DNR approved fields and in municipal liquid waste disposal sites.
